Hosted by the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA), and implemented by Taipei Computer Association, the fundraising and awarding ceremony of " Open Data Innovative Business Competition " was held today (Dec. 22). From the primary selection, check and verification to fundraising, it lasted 4 months to go through above phases, and finally 10 teams of innovative data services and/or products were selected to take their stage with total amount of fundraising up to NTD$ 2.68 million. It also attracted many representatives from industries, venture capitals, governmental agencies and so on to seek for cooperation opportunities.
Mr. Cheng-Hua Wu, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Bureau (Ministry of Economic Affairs, MOEA),said at the awarding ceremony that it has been 5 years since MOEA promoted industry and individuals to utilize the government's open data to develop innovative business models and services. It has been found that innovative momentum in private sectors has evolved from pure "creativity" to the real "product or service" which meet market’s demand. Therefore, this year, we centralize all kinds of resources to foster all sorts of creativities to be commercialized, so that the data applications with high business value and outstanding startup teams can develop explosively.
The results of winning teams and their grants were announced by Deputy Director Cheng-Hua Wu and other judges, making a climax at the awarding ceremony. The biggest winner is 山中猴子創意行銷/Niceday who won NTD$ 586,000 with its innovative product "玩轉城市/Mystery City Adventure ".
